This particular fort has a great history, and has been ruled by many top dynasties from our history. Shilahar Dynasties constructed Kalyangad fort, popularly known as Nandgiri Fort from 1178 to 1209. Later, after 1209, the fort was acquired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, which was then ruled by their representatives.
